Banking and Insurance

The Department of Banking and Insurance was founded in 1990. The department provides courses in the following topics:

  • commercial banking,
  • financial markets and stock exchanges,
  • investment analysis,
  • derivatives,
  • risk management,
  • life and property insurance,
  • mathematical methods used in financial economics.

The Department continues to teach not only the latest theoretical knowledge, but it also provides knowledge from the practical experience gained by working with major financial institutions.

To ensure the high level of education, the faculty members written several books and textbooks from the department areas and also regularly contribute to the well-known domestic and foreign magazines. The also participate in lectures at international and domestic conferences, where as well their outputs are also published in conference proceedings.

Integral part of the work of the department is scientific – research activity focus on:

  • risk management of commercial banks,
  • investment banks and insurance companies,
  • the valuation of banking,
  • investment and insurance products.

The Department is also involved in organizing postgraduate and specialist courses for banking and finance professionals.
