Measures of VŠE following released restrictive measures in the field of higher education during the examination period

Dear students/Dear colleagues,
Let us inform you about the results of the meeting of the University´s crisis staff on May 18, 2020.
EXAMINATION PERIOD /UPDATED ON MAY 26, 2020/
  • the examination period starts on May 18 and ends on June 26, 2020
  • the examination period for students who could not enter the territory of the Czech Republic is extended. The Rector decided to extend the examination period of the summer semester 2019/20 by an additional period from August 24 to 31, 2020. In this additional examination period, examinations and fulfillment of other study obligations may take place for students who could not fulfill their study obligations due to restrictions on entry into the Czech Republic during the regular examination period. Supervisors of the courses will decide on the possibility to fulfill the study obligations in the additional examination period.
The following rules will apply at the University of Economics, Prague:
  • from May 19, 2020, the normal opening hours of buildings (including Jižní Město) apply according to the directive: https://www.vse.cz/predpisy/ochrana-a-ostraha-majetku-vse-v-praze/
  • state final examinations at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral level, including defenses of final theses, and comprehensive examinations in minor specializations may be held, while only the necessary number of persons can be present (15 in total)
  • if none of the valid restrictions prevents students from personal participation, the state final examinations take place in person
  • during the examination period, examinations can take place in the distance form (on-line), in the semi-distance form (in front of the examination commission, where some examiners are present in the room and some are online) or in person, but in compliance with currently valid conditions set by the Czech government
  • deans of the faculties are responsible for the proper implementation of the examination period. Faculties set exam dates, decide on examination methods and inform students (supervisors of individual courses are obliged to properly inform students enrolled in the course about the announced exam dates and the examination methods)
  • other activities can also take place at VŠE, for example individual or group consultations (max. 15 people)
A student may participate in an examination or other activity at VŠE only if the following conditions are met:
  • prove its identity with a student´s ID card to the security staff while entering the building
  • be free from acute health problems corresponding to a viral infectious disease (e.g. fever, cough, shortness of breath, sudden loss of taste and smell, etc.)
  • have no quarantine measures ordered at the given time
  • provide a written affidavit on the absence of symptoms of a viral infectious disease during the previous two weeks
  • wear a respiratory protective device (mask, respirator, scarf, etc.)
  • use hand sanitizer before entering the room
  • use of respiratory protective device during state final examinations, defenses of final theses and comprehensive examinations in minor specialization is to be decided by the chairman of the examination commission
Entrance will be allowed to the students who:
  • take a state final examination or its part, a comprehensive examination in minor specialization, a state doctoral examination, defense a dissertation or take a partial exam from the course enrolled in the summer semester
  • come for a pre-arranged consultation with an VŠE employee
  • come to pick up ordered study literature in the library
Entrance of external persons into the VŠE premises is not restricted, but everyone must fill in an affidavit. The affidavit will be collected by the security staff at the entrance to the school. The affidavit form can be downloaded here: VŠE_affidavit form
Graduation
  • due to the risk of coronavirus infection, it will not be possible to hold graduations in large auditoriums in the dates originally scheduled in June
  • students who duly complete their studies will be able to pick up their diploma in person within the dates set by the relevant faculty, in case of increased risk, the diploma can be sent via post-mail to their own hands. Students will be informed by individual faculties. If a student so wishes, he/she can also take over the diploma at the postponed graduation in the autumn
  • graduations of doctoral study programs will take place on October 30, 2020
  • graduations of master’s degree programs at the Prague faculties will take place in the week from 7 to 11 September 2020, graduations at the Faculty of Management in Jindřichův Hradec will take place on October 31, 2020
  • deans of the faculties will decide on dates of the postponed bachelor’s graduations
The existing extraordinary measures are valid until the moment of further release of restrictive conditions for universities by the government of the Czech Republic. The management of VŠE will adapt the extraordinary measures regulating the presence of students to further development of the situation.
